“When you follow in the path of your father, you learn to walk like him. Let us be good fathers.” – Ethiopian proverb
Many countries regard child labor as normal and often there is not a distinction between moderate and excessive or exploitative forms of work. That work for children consists of farming, prospecting for gold or domestic work earning a mere $1 dollar a month. In Ethiopia, 60% of children help supplement their families with income. Ethiopia is making great strides to bring about awareness to his very pervasive issue.
One such way Ethiopia is making great strides is through the Fair Trade process and farming their wonderful coffee. Through ICA’s partnership with farm cooperatives we help fathers earn adequate wages so that their children can attend school.
